Under the proposal:
? Earnings calls would be held at least twice annually
?? Each call would take place within five business days of the relevant financial results announcement
? Calls would be held after market close
? Companies would announce the call arrangements and registration process
? Investors and analysts would be able to participate and ask questions
? The presentation and recording would be published immediately on the company’s website
Why this is a good development:
? Creates a consistent minimum investor-relations standard across the Main Market
? Gives investors better access to management commentary around financial performance
? Improves transparency around results, business developments, challenges and opportunities
? Reduces information asymmetry between institutional investors, analysts and the wider market
? Brings Saudi market practice closer to established international investor-relations standards
The CMA proposal is an interesting step: taking an established international best practice and potentially making it a regulatory baseline for the Saudi Main Market.
The consultation closes on 29 October 2026. If approved in final form, the CMA has indicated that the provisions would take effect in connection with the annual financial results for FY2026.
Overall our view is that this is a very sensible development from the Saudi Capital Market Authority. ?
